What to Expect During Your Therapeutic Massage Session at Arctic Dawn
Appointments at Arctic Dawn are individualized, unhurried, and grounded in attentive therapeutic care. Sessions emphasize clear communication, thoughtful pacing, and responsiveness to individual needs. All sessions are provided in our Midtown Anchorage studio, serving clients from Downtown, U-Med, and surrounding areas.
Prior to your first visit, you’ll be asked to complete a brief intake form to help guide session planning and ensure care is aligned with your goals.
If you plan to use insurance benefits or have questions related to billing or documentation, these should be discussed at least 24 hours in advance to allow time for benefit verification and coordination.
Many insurance plans require a referral from a physician or other qualified provider in order to bill for therapeutic services. Referrals typically include a diagnosis code and may specify frequency and duration of care. Required referral information must be received prior to billing insurance.
Sessions begin with a short check-in to review relevant health history, current concerns, and priorities for the visit. Care is then provided using therapeutic manual therapy techniques selected based on your presentation and response.
Throughout the session:
pressure and pacing are adjusted as needed
feedback is welcomed and encouraged
care remains responsive rather than scripted
Sessions may focus on specific areas or address broader patterns depending on your needs and goals. Our goal is for you to feel safe, informed, and heard.
“She paid attention to my requests and addressed my concerns. Will be returning for another massage.”

When appropriate, brief between-session considerations may be offered to support comfort, awareness, and self-care following your visit. Guidance is general in nature and intended to complement care rather than replace medical advice.
All sessions at Arctic Dawn are documented clinically. Documentation supports continuity of care and may be used for insurance billing or reimbursement purposes when applicable.
When services are billed to insurance, documentation reflects the requirements of the referring provider and the insurance plan.
Appointments are available in 30, 60, 90, and 120-minute lengths. Session length may be selected based on individual needs, preferences, and goals, and may also be influenced by referral or insurance parameters when applicable.
Clear communication is an important part of care. Questions about session planning, referral requirements, insurance coordination, or what to expect are always welcome.
If you are unsure which type or length of session is appropriate, guidance can be provided prior to booking.
Clients are responsible for providing accurate health information and communicating changes in condition. Services are provided based on information disclosed during intake and ongoing sessions.
